Fly Control & Exterminator in Springfield & Kansas City, MO
Flies bouncing off the kitchen window. Fruit flies hovering over the produce bowl. Drain flies coming up from the bathroom sink. Different fly species mean different problems and different solutions — and most DIY fly control fails because it doesn’t address the source.
Titan Pest Pro provides fly control across Springfield, Kansas City, and surrounding communities. We identify the species, find the source (decaying organic matter, drain biofilm, garbage area, dead rodent in a wall), and treat both the source and the population. Free inspection.

FLIES
Flies can quickly become a major nuisance in homes and businesses, spreading diseases and compromising health. Whether it’s houseflies, fruit flies, or more persistent pests, controlling their population is crucial for a safe, clean environment. DIY methods often fall short, leading to bigger problems. Effective fly control is key to keeping your space pest-free.
Common Flies Our Pest Control Service Sees
Like any problem, the first step is identification. While most treatments are similar, our experts know the specific tricks for the type of fly to ensure that the problem is properly dealt with. Below are the most common species our technicians deal with.

House Flies (Musca domestica)
Most common indoor fly. Gray with four dark stripes on thorax, about 1/4 inch. Breed in decaying organic matter — garbage, animal waste, compost. Found near food, garbage, windows. Single female lays 500+ eggs in her lifetime. Treatment: source elimination (find and remove the breeding material) plus residual treatment around entry points.

Fruit Flies (Drosophila spp.)
Small (1/8 inch), tan to brown body with red eyes. Breed in fermenting fruit, vegetables, beer/wine spills, garbage disposal residue. Indoor problem typically traced to a specific food source. Treatment: identify and remove the fermenting source; population dies within 1-2 weeks because adults only live 1-2 weeks.

Drain Flies (Psychodidae)
Tiny (1/8 inch), fuzzy gray-brown body resembling small moths. Breed in biofilm inside drains — sink P-traps, floor drains, sewer ejector pits. NOT a sanitation issue with the home generally; specifically a drain biofilm issue. Treatment: drain treatment to break down biofilm; surface treatment alone doesn’t work because eggs and larvae are inside the drain.

Bottle Flies / Blow Flies (Calliphoridae)
Large (3/8 inch) flies with metallic blue, green, or bronze body. Breed in decaying meat — dead animals (rodents in wall voids, dead birds, decaying mammals on property). When you see metallic-looking flies in unusual numbers indoors, there’s usually a dead animal source nearby. Source removal is critical — just killing the flies doesn’t resolve the underlying issue.

Biting Midges / No-See-Ums (Ceratopogonidae)
Outdoor biting “gnats” that swarm at dawn and dusk near water. Tiny enough to pass through screen mesh. Not solved by indoor treatment — they require yard treatment of breeding areas such as wet leaf litter, mulch, and standing water.

Cluster Flies (Pollenia rudis)
Overwintering flies that gather around windows, attics, wall voids, and upper areas of the home, especially during cooler months. They may appear indoors on warm days. Treatment focuses on identifying entry points, sealing gaps where possible, and treating exterior or attic-related areas where cluster flies may be gathering.
