Cockroach Control in Springfield, MO

Roach Extermination for Springfield Homes, Apartments and Businesses

One cockroach running across the kitchen floor at night is rarely one cockroach. Roaches spend most of their lives hidden in wall voids, behind appliances and under cabinets, and by the time you are seeing them in the open, there is usually a population behind the walls.

Titan Pest Pro identifies which cockroach you have — because a German cockroach infestation in the kitchen and an American cockroach wandering up from the basement are completely different problems — then treats where they live and follows up until they are gone. Licensed, local and veteran-founded, serving Springfield, Nixa, Ozark, Republic, Willard, Battlefield and the surrounding Ozarks.

How Roach Extermination Works

Inspection and Identification
We confirm the species and find where they are hiding, breeding and getting in.

Targeted Treatment
Gel baits and growth regulators placed in the cracks and voids where roaches live, not sprayed across open counters.

Follow-Up Visits
We come back to check activity, replace bait and catch the next generation before it breeds.

Prevention
Sealing gaps, fixing moisture problems and a perimeter treatment to keep outdoor roaches outdoors.

The Plan Built for This: Titan Core Home Protection

Cockroach control is covered under Titan Core Home Protection, Titan’s everyday home pest plan, with a visit every two months — six a year, not the usual four — and free re-treatment if covered pests come back between visits. The free inspection tells you whether ongoing protection makes sense or a focused cleanout will do.

Which Cockroach Do You Have?

Four cockroaches account for almost every call in the Springfield area, and each one points to a different cause.

German cockroach

Small — about half an inch — light brown, with two dark stripes running lengthwise behind the head. This is the indoor roach: it lives almost entirely inside, in kitchens and bathrooms, close to food, water and warmth, and it breeds faster than any other household roach. Females carry their egg case until it is nearly ready to hatch, which protects the eggs from many treatments. Seeing German cockroaches in the daytime usually means a heavy infestation. See how to get rid of German cockroaches and signs of a German cockroach infestation.

American cockroach

Large — well over an inch — reddish-brown with a yellowish band behind the head. Often called a “water bug” or “palmetto bug.” They prefer warm, damp places like basements, crawlspaces, drains, sewers and utility areas, and they usually enter from outside or come up through plumbing. An occasional American cockroach in the basement is a different situation from a German cockroach problem in the kitchen. Read more in how to get rid of American cockroaches.

Oriental cockroach

Dark brown to nearly black, shiny, about an inch long, and sluggish. They favor cool, very damp places — crawlspaces, basements, floor drains, under porches and in leaf litter against the foundation. They are a strong sign of a moisture problem. See how to get rid of oriental cockroaches.

Wood cockroach

Brown with pale edges on the front of the body, common in wooded areas, woodpiles and leaf litter. They wander in, especially in spring and early summer, and are often attracted to lights at night, but they do not usually establish indoors. For many Ozarks homes near woods, these are the “roaches” that turn up — and they rarely call for more than a perimeter treatment and sealing gaps.

Why Cockroaches Are Hard to Get Rid Of

Roaches are built to survive exactly what homeowners throw at them. They hide in spaces a spray cannot reach, they come out only at night, and German cockroaches in particular reproduce quickly, so a handful that survive a treatment can rebuild a population within weeks.

Store-bought sprays and foggers often make things worse. They kill the roaches they touch and push the rest deeper into walls and into neighboring rooms or apartments. Many German cockroach populations have also developed resistance to common over-the-counter products. And repellent sprays can drive roaches away from baits that would otherwise have worked. More on this in why cockroaches are hard to get rid of.

Home remedies have their place for occasional visitors — our articles on smells cockroaches hate and what kills cockroaches instantly are two of the most-read pages on this site — but an established indoor infestation is not a home-remedy problem.

How Titan Treats a Springfield Roach Problem

1. Inspect and identify

We look behind and under the refrigerator, stove and dishwasher, under sinks, inside cabinets and drawers, around plumbing, in bathrooms and in the basement or crawlspace. We look for live roaches, droppings (small dark specks, like pepper or coffee grounds), shed skins and egg cases, and we confirm the species.

2. Bait where they live

Professional gel baits go into the cracks, hinges, voids and gaps where roaches hide and travel. Roaches eat the bait and carry it back to where others are sheltering. Because baits are placed in small amounts in protected spots, not sprayed across surfaces, they are also a far better fit for kitchens.

3. Break the breeding cycle

Insect growth regulators stop young roaches from maturing and reproducing. That is what prevents a new generation from replacing the one the bait removes.

4. Follow up

German cockroach infestations need follow-up visits to check activity, refresh bait and catch the roaches that hatch from egg cases protected during the first treatment.

5. Seal and dry out

We point out gaps around pipes, under doors and in the foundation, and moisture problems — leaking pipes, damp crawlspaces, clogged gutters — that draw American and oriental cockroaches.

We select and apply products according to label directions and explain preparation, re-entry and any household-specific precautions before service.

Roaches in Springfield Apartments, Rentals and Businesses

Springfield is a college town — Missouri State University alone has over 23,000 students, and Ozarks Technical Community College and Drury add many more — which means a large rental market with constant turnover. German cockroaches travel between units along shared walls, plumbing and electrical runs, and they move in with used furniture, appliances and boxes. Treating a single unit in a building with roaches next door is a recipe for re-infestation; coordinated treatment of neighboring units works far better.

For restaurants, food service and other businesses, see our commercial cockroach control service. We schedule around your hours and keep records for inspections.

What You Can Do to Help

  • Take away food: wipe counters and stovetops at night, store food in sealed containers, do not leave pet food out overnight, and keep trash in a lidded can.
  • Take away water: fix dripping faucets and leaking pipes, and do not leave dishes soaking overnight.
  • Take away hiding places: recycle cardboard and paper bags promptly, and reduce clutter under sinks and in cabinets.
  • Do not spray over the bait: repellent sprays and cleaners around bait placements can keep roaches from eating it.
  • Check what comes in: inspect used appliances, furniture and grocery boxes.

Signs You Have Cockroaches

  • Droppings — small dark specks like ground pepper or coffee grounds in drawers, cabinets and along shelves; larger roaches leave small cylindrical pellets.
  • Egg cases — small brown capsules tucked into corners, cracks and the undersides of shelves.
  • Shed skins behind appliances and under sinks.
  • A musty, oily odor in heavier infestations.
  • Roaches in daylight, which usually means the hiding places are already crowded.

Start With a Free Inspection

A local Titan technician comes to your home or business anywhere in the Springfield area, identifies the roaches you are dealing with, finds where they are hiding and gives you honest answers — no charge, no pressure, no obligation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Roaches seen in the daytime, droppings in drawers and cabinets, a musty odor, shed skins and egg cases all point to an established infestation. One large roach in the basement at night is a very different situation from small roaches in the kitchen by day.

The German cockroach indoors, the American and oriental cockroaches in damp basements, crawlspaces and drains, and the wood cockroach wandering in from outside.

Most German cockroach infestations drop sharply within the first couple of weeks of baiting, with follow-up visits to finish the job and catch roaches hatching from protected egg cases. Heavier infestations and apartment buildings take longer.

For the first days, roaches that have eaten bait often come out into the open before they die, and young roaches keep hatching from egg cases. Activity should fall steadily; tell us if it does not.

Gel baits are placed in small amounts inside cracks and voids rather than sprayed across counters. We select and apply products according to label directions and explain preparation and any household-specific precautions before service.

Usually not. Foggers do not reach where roaches hide, can scatter them deeper into walls and neighboring rooms, and many German cockroaches resist common store-bought products.

Roaches can arrive in boxes, grocery bags, used appliances and furniture, or travel from a neighboring unit. Cleanliness helps a lot, but it does not stop roaches that are carried in or already living in the walls.

Usually not. Large American or oriental cockroaches in a basement or crawlspace generally come from outside, drains or damp areas, and point to moisture and entry points rather than a kitchen infestation.

Very rarely. The concern with roaches is contamination of food and surfaces and the allergens they leave behind. See do cockroaches bite.

We can, but German cockroaches move through shared walls and plumbing, so coordinated treatment with your landlord and neighboring units gives far better results.

American and oriental cockroaches can travel through drains and sewer lines, especially in floor drains and unused sinks. See how to stop cockroaches coming up drains.

Yes. We provide commercial cockroach control scheduled around your operating hours, with service records.

Clear out the cabinets under the kitchen and bathroom sinks, clean up food and grease, and do not spray any store-bought products in the days before and after we treat.

Yes — Springfield, Nixa, Ozark, Republic, Willard, Battlefield, Strafford, Fair Grove, Rogersville and the surrounding Greene, Christian and Webster County communities.

Remove food and water sources, seal gaps around pipes and doors, fix moisture problems, and keep up with a regular perimeter treatment. Titan Core Home Protection includes visits every two months.

I had them out to do a one time treatment because I spotted a couple cockroaches in the house. The first treatment seemed to slow them down but when I still found one wandering my house after 21 days I gave another call. They came out to treat me again because it was within the 30 day warranty. Everyone was super nice, from inspection to treatment, and Jordan, my second technician, really looked all around trying to find where they might have infested.

Having a major problem with Asian beetles, spiders, wasps and moles. Discovered they had a reasonable problem for all of it! Signed up and paid for a full year. Jordan arrived ahead of schedule, was very thorough in explaining how they treat, their program and process.
