Pests, termites, AND wildlife — one local team your family already knows

Most pest control problems don’t come one at a time. The family that calls us for mice in November often has wasps under the eaves by April and a termite question by June. Most national chains will send a different truck for each — or they don’t handle wildlife at all, and they’ll refer you out.

We’re different in three specific ways:

One team handles everything. Termites, general pest, wildlife removal — your wife or husband doesn’t need to coordinate three vendors. The same technician who treats the foundation handles the squirrel in the attic.

Local, not a national chain. Our techs live in the neighborhoods they treat. They know which Springfield zip codes get hit hardest by brown recluse and which Northland neighborhoods have raccoon pressure every spring.

. Family-safe approach. Pets back in the yard same day. Kids back in the yard same day. We use targeted, EPA-registered treatments where pests actually are — not broadcast spraying across your whole lawn.

Common Household Pests We Treat

Most homeowners don’t come to us because they know which pest they have. They come because they saw something, heard something, or their kid got bit by something — and they want it identified and handled. Below are the species we treat most often in residential settings. Click any pest to see what it looks like, how we treat it, and how fast we can get to you.

Ant Control

Trails on counters, activity near bathroom corners, or ants entering around doors and windows. Different ant problems need different treatments, especially when carpenter ants are involved because they can nest in damaged or moisture-affected wood.

Termite Control

Mud tubes on the foundation, soft spots in baseboards, or a pile of insect wings near a window. Treatment depends on whether the colony is active. Free inspection includes a full structural check.

Mice Control

Droppings in the pantry, scratching in the walls at night, or chewed packaging in the basement. We seal entry points, set traps, and follow up to confirm the population is gone.

Rat Control

Larger droppings, chewed insulation, gnaw marks on plastic storage. Rats need a different approach than mice. Treatment includes exterior exclusion.

Mosquito Control

Mosquitoes turning your backyard unusable at dusk. One yard treatment knocks down the population for 3-4 weeks. Family-safe — kids and pets back outside same day.

Tick Control

Active in Southwest Missouri April through October. We treat lawn edges and shaded areas where ticks wait for pets and kids walking by.

Wasp Removal

Nests under eaves, in dryer vents, inside grill covers. We remove the nest safely. Don’t spray it yourself if it’s bigger than a quarter — active wasps swarm.

Bed Bug Exterminator

Itchy bites in the morning, rust-color stains on sheets, or live bugs in seams of the mattress. Bed bugs spread fast. Same-day or next-day response.

Spider Control

Brown recluse and black widow are the two species we treat most for in Missouri. Both are present in basements, garages, and storage spaces year-round.

Cockroach Pest Control

Roaches near drains, behind appliances, or in cabinets. We treat the population and the moisture conditions that brought them in.

Flea Exterminator

Pet brought them in. They’re now in the carpet and the yard. We treat both interior and exterior together — treating just the dog doesn’t solve it.

Fly Control

House flies, drain flies, fruit flies, bottle flies, and cluster fly issues each need a different approach. We identify the fly species, locate the breeding or entry source, and treat the problem directly.

Gnat Control

Fungus gnats around houseplants or damp potting soil. We locate the moisture and breeding source, then treat the problem with targeted methods that help protect your plants.

Silverfish Pest Control

Found in basements, bathrooms, and storage. They damage paper, books, and stored fabrics. Treatment includes moisture reduction.

Stink Bug Exterminator

Gather on warm walls in fall and again in early spring. We treat the population and seal the entry points they used.

Moth Exterminator

Pantry moths in stored grains and flour, or clothing moths in closets. Both need full removal of contaminated materials plus treatment.

Beetle Control

Carpet beetles, pantry beetles, or wood-boring beetles. Each needs species-specific treatment. We identify before we treat.

Ladybug Pest Control

Asian lady beetles gathering on windows and in attics. They bite, stain surfaces, and return year after year. We treat with exclusion + targeted application.

Millipede / Centipede Pest Control

In basements, garages, and damp areas. Often a sign of moisture. We treat the population and recommend moisture corrections.

Stored Grain Pests

Weevils, beetles, and moths in pantry grains. We identify the contaminated source, treat the space, and prevent return.

Bee Removal

Honey bees and bumble bees are pollinators, and we do not treat them. We do not remove or relocate them either. For honey bees we refer you to a local beekeeper. Other species (yellow jackets, paper wasps) handled like wasp removal.

Decontamination

After heavy infestation or wildlife activity, we clean and decontaminate affected spaces — attics, crawl spaces, storage areas.

Our Residential Pest Control Process

Every home is different. The 1950s ranch in Brookline gets different pest pressure than the new build in Smithville. We don’t use a script. Here’s how we work.

Step 1: Free Home Inspection

We walk the inside and outside of your house. Kitchen, pantry, basement or crawlspace, attic, garage, every exterior wall. We look for what you’ve seen, what you haven’t, and how the pests are getting in. Inspection takes 30-60 minutes. No charge. No pressure.

Step 2: Identification and Diagnosis

We identify the species, the activity level, and where the pressure is coming from. Carpenter ants in damaged wood need different treatment than odorous house ants in the pantry. We tell you exactly what you’re dealing with before we recommend treatment.

Step 3: Targeted Treatment Plan

We build a treatment plan around the specific pests and your home’s layout. Sometimes that’s one-time service. Sometimes it’s a bi-monthly plan. We tell you both options and the cost upfront — no surprise charges, no upsells when the tech arrives.

Step 4: Prevention Recommendations

We tell you what attracted the pests so they don’t come back. Sometimes that’s a 2mm gap around a dryer vent. Sometimes it’s a moisture issue in the crawlspace. We tell you the practical fix — a free recommendation, not a sales pitch.

Step 5: Follow-Up and Ongoing Protection

Active infestations get a follow-up visit at 14-30 days to confirm the population is gone. Ongoing service plans receive visits every two months with exterior treatment, attic checks, and monitoring stations. Most families pick a plan after they see what the first visit catches.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Most families benefit from bi-monthly service — four visits a year, timed to seasonal pest pressure. Spring focuses on termites and ants. Summer on mosquitoes and wasps. Fall on rodent prevention. Winter on indoor monitoring and spider/silverfish populations. One-time treatment works for an active infestation, but the families who don’t call us in a panic are usually the ones on a bi-monthly plan.

We treat 23+ common residential pest species — ants, termites, mice, rats, mosquitoes, ticks, wasps, bed bugs, spiders, roaches, fleas, flies, gnats, silverfish, stink bugs, moths, beetles, ladybugs, cluster flies, millipedes, stored grain pests, and bees. We also handle wildlife removal (raccoons, squirrels, bats, opossums, skunks, snakes, groundhogs, moles, birds). See the pest grid above for what each species looks like and how we treat it.

Usually, yes. Most homeowners see one of something well before there’s actually one of something. A single live mouse in the open during the day typically means there’s a population breeding somewhere you don’t see. One termite swarmer near a window means a colony is active near your house. One brown recluse in a basement almost always means more. We don’t panic about it — but we also don’t recommend waiting to see if it was ‘just the one.’

All of it. Kitchen, pantry, bathrooms, laundry, basement or crawlspace, attic, garage, every exterior wall. We check entry points around dryer vents, AC line penetrations, foundation cracks, soffits, and roof edges. Yard perimeter for mosquitoes, ticks, and wildlife sign. Most full residential inspections take 30-60 minutes. Yes, it’s actually free — no ‘trip charge,’ no ‘inspection fee waived if you book,’ nothing like that.

Yes — with one caveat we’re honest about. We use EPA-registered targeted treatments applied where pests actually are, not broadcast spraying across your whole yard or house. For most treatments, kids and pets are back in the yard the same day, often within an hour. A few specific treatments (certain termite applications, full interior fogging if needed) require longer return times — we tell you upfront if your job needs that, before we arrive.

Three differences our customers tell us matter most. First, we handle pests AND wildlife — most chains refer wildlife calls out, which means you’re managing two vendors. Second, we’re local. Our techs live in the neighborhoods they treat, which means they know the specific pest pressures in your area. Third, no pressure-selling at the door. Our technicians aren’t commissioned salespeople — they’re there to identify the problem and tell you what it costs to fix.

Standard free inspections are scheduled within the week — often within 2-3 business days. Emergency situations get same-day or next-day priority: live brown recluse or black widow indoors, bed bug evidence, wasp nest in a kid play area, scratching in the walls during the day (active wildlife). When you call, tell us what you’re seeing — we triage on the call.

It depends on the pest and the property size, but here’s the honest range. One-time treatments for common pests (ants, spiders, wasps) typically run $200-$350. Bi-monthly service plans start at $99 initial + $65/month (our Titan Core Home Protection plan). Termite treatments and bed bug eradication are higher-investment services priced after inspection. We give you the price before treatment starts — no hidden fees, no ‘surprise charges’ when the tech arrives.

We explain the plan, price, and agreement in plain language up front, so there are no surprises later.

I have been having trouble with little ants in my kitchen. I called yesterday and Jordan came out today! Only a one day wait!!! He immediately knew where they were coming from and took me around the house to show me. He did the initial service for me on the spot. He even told me about other "pests" they can control which I had no idea they could help control! I highly recommend this company and Jordan was amazing! Thank you so much!

I called due to having a problem with ants. Jordan and Jake came to look at the property, gave me a walk through the house to let me know where the ant trails were and how they were getting inside the home, gave me a price before doing work, immediately got to work and got done quickly, explaining how the process works and when to follow up again. While here, they also killed a copperhead snake — thank you Jake, as I have little ones. Definitely recommend. Main spot was front of house.

I had them out to do a one time treatment because I spotted a couple cockroaches in the house. The first treatment seemed to slow them down but when I still found one wandering my house after 21 days I gave another call. They came out to treat me again because it was within the 30 day warranty. Everyone was super nice, from inspection to treatment, and Jordan, my second technician, really looked all around trying to find where they might have infested. I really appreciate having the guarantee and how nice everyone was when speaking to them. Hopefully this time the cockroaches will stay away for good.

I have been using 417 Pest for a few years now and I'm more than happy with their service! Logan does a great job communicating when he'll be there and always does a great job! I literally haven't seen a spider in years. I recently had them start spraying my daughter's house as well and they're super happy with the results!

He came out exactly at the scheduled time, and worked quickly to get the home and exterior sprayed. Extremely likable and kind. Gave us some free glue traps and bug bait as well. He is confident that the spray will rid our home of spiders, wife is an arachnophobe, as well as take care of out ant problems. Their pricing was much less than I expected, working out to just above a dollar a day to be free of the nuisance forever. With their service contract they offer a full warranty, and will come out at any point to do a free additional spray to keep the bugs out for good. Best money I will ever spend!!

Jake came to give a bid on ridding our lawn from moles, voles, and ticks. He was very professional, friendly, and informative concerning our particular needs. He walked our yard with my husband and explained the process of how their techs will take care of our needs.
