Is mosquito treatment safe for kids and pets?
We use EPA-registered products applied at label-specified rates. Kids and pets are typically restricted from the treated areas only during application and the brief drying period afterward, usually 30 minutes. Once dried, the residual is bound to the vegetation surfaces and is not transferred to skin or paws. We tell you exactly when treatment will be complete so you can plan around it. If you have specific concerns — a pregnant family member, a pet with health issues, koi pond, beehives — tell us during inspection and we adjust the treatment plan.
Why do mosquitoes love my yard but not my neighbor’s?
Three factors usually explain the difference. STANDING WATER: even small water collection (clogged gutters, plant saucers, bird baths not changed weekly) sustains a breeding population. VEGETATION DENSITY: thick shrubs, ivy beds, and untrimmed perimeter vegetation create the cool, shaded resting habitat adult mosquitoes need during daylight hours. PROXIMITY TO LARGER WATER SOURCES: properties near creeks, retention ponds, drainage ditches, or wooded areas with tree-hole breeding will always have higher pressure. Do bug zappers work for mosquito control?
Honest answer: not really. University entomology research over multiple decades has consistently documented that bug zappers kill mostly non-biting insects — moths, beetles, and harmless flies — with very few mosquitoes in the catch. They make noise and look like they’re working, but they don’t reduce biting populations at meaningful levels. If you already own one, fine — it’s not harmful. But replacing it shouldn’t be a priority, and adding one shouldn’t be expected to solve mosquito problems.
Why are only female mosquitoes biting?
Female mosquitoes need protein from blood to produce eggs — it’s a reproductive requirement, not a feeding strategy. Male mosquitoes feed exclusively on plant nectar and never bite.
